What is a Film Studio?

A film studio is an international, major entertainment business, commonly known as the motion picture industry, which has its own studio unit or studios that are used mainly to create movies and which is administered by the commercial production company. The term “film” in this context usually refers to the full-length feature film. There are several types of film production companies, each with its own distinctive traits.

The United States-based major film studios are the home of the major Hollywood film industry, which consists of Hollywood, Los Angeles and Beverly Hills. The United States film industry produces more movies than any other country in the world. There are many popular movies, including the Harry Potter franchise and the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. Among these films there have been successful box-office hits. It also produces television series such as Hannah Montana, Disney Princess and Tokyo Disney Princess.

The United States film production companies include Pixar, Disney, Skywalker Ranch and Disney animation studios. The United Kingdom has its main film production companies of London, Leavesberry, Picture House, Benders, and Universal. These companies have produced lots of popular movies and television series. Some of their movies which are bestsellers are Toy Story, Cars and Harry Potter. The best known British film production companies are Rhythm House, United Artists, C Spike, and Little Angel.

Video production and advertising studios produce videos for television, radio and other media. They are located in Los Angeles, California, New York and San Francisco, California. Some famous video production companies include 20th Century Fox, Universal Pictures, Nickelodeon and Dreamworks. Many aspiring film and TV stars have their video production companies as their agents in order to get their big break.

The film and television industry are a very expensive industry and each year there are millions of dollars lost because of production costs and commercials. A lot of money is spent on casting and locations and the cost of production can be very high. Therefore, it is important for every studio to find ways to cut down the cost. Some ways to do this are reducing the number of movies released, reducing or eliminating the usage of green screens and using cheaper and more efficient equipment.
